Show Me The Money

Most of us will be getting a little bit more of our own money back from Uncle Sam here in a couple of weeks. I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do with mine. Of course, the gub'ment wants me to go out and spend it right away, in hopes that it will stimulate the economy. Most likely, it will go to pay bills. Which makes me wonder...and leads to another

CONTEST!!!!

Now, in the past two contests I've done, I've gotten a lot of comments that they were too hard. This one will be easy, I promise. All you gotta do is leave me a comment telling me what you plan on doing with your economic stimulus check. If you live outside the U.S. or are one of those few people who won't be getting a check, you can still play. Just leave a comment telling me what you would do with the money if you were getting it. That's it. Simple, huh? Just one thing, make sure you leave me a way of contacting you--either e-mail addy or Ravelry ID.

The contest will run until May 2--the day the first money starts going out. Winner will be chosen by a random drawing.

So what do I win, you may ask. Well, I'll tell you. You will win one unframed print* of one of my photos. Any photo, any size--up to 10 X 13**. You can browse through my albums here.

Don't go look now--well, OK, go look now, but look again if you win. I'm going to be spending the next couple of weeks uploading some more.

Ready? Set? Comment away!

*Note: You will receive one print of one of my photos, not the copyright to the photo. You may keep it. You may give it as a gift. You may donate it to charity. You may sell it in a garage sale. What you may not do is make copies and sell them for profit.

**Please check the resolution of your chosen photo. Some of the older ones were uploaded at a lower resolution, and may not be suitable for enlargements.

NOTE: Some people seem to be under the impression that the photo below is the one I am offering as a prize. NOT SO!!!! I mean, you can have it if that's the one you want, but you are not limited to this one. Please browse my albums here, and choose any photo you like!

We are hoping to start adding on or building our house - that is where our money will go.

Well, when we were getting a good sized check from the feds, we were going to put it towards some of the upgrades that we are trying to put in our rental property. But then NJ state taxes grabbed most of that money away (and how is that, considering we are getting less services now?), but it's still going towards that. Lucky thing is that my hubby got his end of the year (like last year) bonus check yesterday (it was lost by his boss by accident), so we suddenly came into some money, and we are going to put it towards having a vacation somewhere this summer. Woo Hoo!

I came here from the Ravelry Contestants group. Turbotax told me I should be getting a very small check, which is better than nothing, though it really doesn't take away the sting of having to write very large checks to the government and state last week. I've already preallocated it though, and spent it on a 2008-2009 season pass.

Beautiful pictures!
I plan to buy a stationery bike, and maybe take my girls shopping. I don't really have any plans, kind of don't want it because that will just make my next year's refund that much less.

I also go by psst on Ravelry, I share your membership in the Contest group, and in SMACK.

I don't think we would use it to pay down some credit cards, maybe some new clothes.

I came here from the Ravelry contestants group. I'm ShainR at Ravelry or you can contact me through my blog: http://journeysandreflections.wordpress.com

I would love to be able to use the rebate money to paint my kitchen, build a new porch, buy a drop spindle and learn how to spin, get new yarn, and the list goes on. However, I have to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed. So, the $ will be going to the dentist- ack!

I came here from the Ravelry contestants group and my Ravelry ID is knittingpanda87. I will be using my tax money to help pay off my credit cards.

I came in from Ravelry too. I'm Canadian, and don't get that cheque, but if I came into some money, it would probably get spent on yarn. I've been away from knitting for a few years, and now that I'm back, I'm indulging myself in a ton of super nice yarns.

I came from Ravelry (id- globalite) and unfortunately I found out yesterday I will be spending my refund on a new timing belt and water pump for my car. NO FUN. :(

my husband and i plan to use it to both pay off some of our mortgage and then throw a "stimulating bbq" in the back yard. we're gonna do food themed to stimulate the mind and body, like red bulls to drink, coke butt chicken (so tasty. ever had chicken basted with a bit of coke? good stuff!) and any other brain food or caffine loaded things we can think to throw on the grill.

How to use Your IRS Rebate check...

As you may have heard, each of us will be getting a tax rebate check to stimulate the economy.

If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money will go to China . If we spend it on gasoline it will go to the Arabs. If we purchase a computer it will go to India . If we purchase fruits and vegetables it will go to Honduras , and Guatemala . If we purchase a good car it will go to Japan . If we purchase useless stuff it will go to Taiwan and none of it will help the American economy.

We need to keep that money here in America . The only way to keep that money here at home is to spend it at yard sales
, since those are the only businesses left owned by Americans !!

Looks like GARAGE SALES it will be, more junk, more junk!!!!

I saw your contest on Wiknit. I am going to try my darnedest to not spend mine all in one place, but I need gas in my car, that will take a big chunk of it. :)

I live in the US, but am not getting any money back since I didn't file this year (I'm a student and worked so little last year it really wasn't worth it). Anyway, if I was getting money it would go 1) into my fiance and my's account for the future (house, etc), 2) a nice yarn store splurge, and 3) gas.

I'm on SSI so I don't get one. Were I to get one though, it would go towards paying of bill or two :o)

Lol, what an interesting question! Sadly we will just put it on our credit card. Our daughter is at the point of having all 4 wisdom teeth pulled, college placement testing for running start, class ring, getting her license etc...on top of the high cost of fuel. So it will not get to be played with but will help make a dent. Your photos are beautiful! Love the composition!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. For the last three days I have been fiening (not exaggerating here) for a yarn fix. It’s so hard and I'm so weak against such forces…its been a tough battle that I resigned myself to losing (just last night). But you have just made it all better because you reminded me about this wonderfully unbudgeted Stimulus check. (I sinfully use budgeted money for yarn sometimes...Bad, Bad Me).

I filed electronically and early so I hope I get it early...My BDay is May 5 and this money is Free Reign Baby, Free Reign Baby!

I know exactly what I'm going to buy (Yummy yummy ebay yarn) I would link pics for your drooling pleasure but I'm sure you are not to be trusted (any of you!) I don’t want you getting any ideas.

P.S. I only need a little fix, if I get the max stimulus I'll donate 80% to my savings account.
